Have passed this place many times but finally decided to stop in for lunch. We asked the very nice waitress what she recommended and she said they were best known for their crab cakes and oysters.
We saw a fried oyster sandwich go by and it was mounded with the fried oysters, so if I ever go back that's what I will get instead. The fish being sold behind the counter did look fresh.
We ordered a crab mama and a crab cake sandwich minus the roll. I wish I had just ordered the two crab cake platter instead because the crab cake was pretty small. And it definitely is not made with jumbo lump crab meat. Most of the meat was shredded. I was not impressed by the size or the taste.
Consistency!! Went here a few months ago food was good. Went back a couple of days ago craving what i had prior. The food was not good this time. My fish was over cooked the soup was bland and the yummy dessert i had was NOT on the menu . I was disappointed in my second experience at this location. Just my opinion.
Stop each time traveling. Love the all u can eat blue crabs..truly nice selection of food. Everything is made to order so it arrives hot and fresh! I love the fried oysters, some of the best I have eaten. Just enough breading to dust the seafood without overpowering it in thick crust. The macaroni salad is absolutely scrumptious. Ordered the rice pudding for dessert and could taste the richness of cream yummy.
You get your choice of fries or seasoned fries. You can skip the latter because all they do is merely give a shake or two of Old Bay seasoning to the already fried potatoes. They are by no means like seasoned fries at other restaurants that have the seasoning on them before they go in the fryer. Besides, there is a Shaker of Old Bay Seasoning sitting on every table so you might as well just shake it on your plain fries if that's what floats your boat.
Excellent fresh seafood to eat in and take out. Delicious pretzel bread with crab and cheese topping. Seared large and tender scallops. A smoked tuna salad to take out.
The crab mama was ordered medium and came out with the hamburger quite well done.
Fresh local seafood at its best. Great stop while heading south to DE beaches (nice way to sit and watch the traffic). All crab-related dishes are excellent. Crowded during normal meal-time hours so plan accordingly.
